Vaycay Brew Co. was born right here in Calgary, thanks to some inspiring world travels. What started as a pipe dream over a decade ago has become a reality for the operating partners, Andrew Gass, Brad Fehr and Mark Zabot, who come from restaurants, sales, and breweries. Vaycay was born from their global travels, visiting breweries near and far, and never giving up on the dream of one day owning a taproom.
When Andrew and Mark were enrolled in Brewmaster & Brewery Operations Management at Olds College, they met Jordan Ramey, co-owner at Burwood Distillery and Professor of Brewing Sciences. They became quick friends and eventually joined forces right here in Currie. You’ll be able to visit both of these stand-up businesses in the Stables Building soon.

According to Andrew Gass, CEO, Partner, and Brewmaster, Currie is the perfect location for Vaycay to make it’s start, thanks to it’s historically preserved buildings, location, and its potential future for development.
“The building itself was the perfect blend of historical significance, industrial potential, and neighbourhood feel,” says Andrew, adding, “the proximity to downtown as well as the type of residential, commercial and educational density planned in the area, alongside the easy access to Crowchild Trail… the decision was a no brainer!”

When you visit Vaycay Brew Co., you’ll find a non-pretentious, fun atmosphere in an amazing Havana themed tap room and restaurant. They are cultivating a come-as-you-are mentality in an affordable environment.
As Andrew says, “We are local Calgarians, immersed in our communities.” For the people who work there, that means that every day at Vaycay is a manual labour of love and lots of hard work.
