Fitness for Everyone in Currie with Barracks Fitness

May 27, 2022

Barracks Fitness is a CrossFit gym run by husband-and-wife team Eric and Christi Barber in the beautiful Currie neighbourhood. Located in B5 – 2514 Battleford Ave, Barracks Fitness is ready for you with a wide range of classes, training, and education. Find out more about their offerings and their Currie connection.

The Birth of Barracks Fitness

One fateful afternoon after the birth of their eldest son, Christi and Eric, who were living in Florida at the time, decided to pack up their lives and move back to Calgary. They sold their small gym and started on plans for CrossFit Currie Barracks (which is now Barracks Fitness). More than 10 years later, they still love helping people reach their fitness goals and they still love CrossFit.

“It’s a perfect combo,” says Eric and Christi. “We are fortunate to have followed our passion for health and fitness and we get to improve people’s lives every day.”

Barracks Fitness in Currie

When considering where to build Barracks Fitness, Eric and Christi had an easy choice. They had always loved the southwest of Calgary, and they couldn’t think of a better location than Currie.

“Between the rich history and the proximity to pretty much everything, Currie was a no brainer for us,” said Christi and Eric about choosing Currie. On top of the history and location, Eric and Christi also love the vibrant business community and continued development of Currie, which in their opinion is well on its way to being a premium community in Calgary.

Fitness for Everyone

The wonderful part of Barracks Fitness is how welcoming they are. Whether you’re a long time CrossFit enthusiast or you’re just starting your fitness journey, you’ll find what you need in their space.

Class options include Foundations Classes for all levels, Kids Fit Classes for kids and teens, Personal Training, Olympic Weightlifting, and even Nutrition Planning.

New to CrossFit? It’s a great way to get in shape and get fit, or even to change up a boring fitness routine. Christi and Eric know firsthand that it can be scary to make a change, but they know it’s worth it!
