Currie Hosts Guided Walking Tours with Doors Open YYC

September 27, 2019

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on September 28 and 29, the community of Currie welcomes visitors to discover the historical roots of our great neighbourhood.

Visitors are invited to come in from the early winter conditions for complimentary coffee and hot chocolate and explore the Stables Building (D4).

Plunging visitors back to the early days when Currie was known as the Currie Barracks, western Canada’s largest military base at one point, the Doors Open YYC event will explore the Stables Building and its historical significance.

One of the first structures to come to life in Currie Barracks, the Stables allowed for the training of cavalry. With enough room for up to 100 horses, this high-ceilinged building brings in tons of natural light and features distinguished characteristics that match the rest of Currie.

Drop anytime between 10 a.m to 2 p.m. on September 28 or 29 to get up close and personal with these historical sites.
